The Mother Earth Series is a series of 12 original oil paintings on canvas, each representing the Earth as a female icon. In each painting Mother Earth communicates with us through the symbolism of the natural world.

I tried to make these paintings visually beautiful, as we often see nature. On closer view there is death and decay, forests burning, and fish dying. Mother Earth’s senses are gagged by flowers or butterflies, which symbolize humanity's neglect of her to our own detriment. Yet she continues to speak her message of love through blossoming flowers, buzzing bees, ocean waves, and twisting trees.

The paintings are meant to encourage us to consider our relationship and identity with the Earth and with nature. In this series I try to explore the strengths and vulnerabilities of nature and humanity.
