OUTSCHOOL Art Classes!
I'm Valerie and I'm a visual artist and art educator. I create multidisciplinary online Art courses to primary and secondary students to help them connect with nature and develop their art and language skills. My classes combine science, language, and art!
I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting, and Master's in Art Education. I'm certified to teach All-Level Art and AP Art History in the state of Texas and I have over 12 years experience teaching Art.
I'm also a mom of two teen boys who love soccer and music. I love to travel and explore in nature with my family! My classes are ESL/ELL friendly. Hablo español (más o menos) and I'm learning Italian!

LIVE COURSES
Below are my LIVE synchronous courses where students attend interactive LIVE classes each week on Outschool through Zoom. Some courses are for 10 weeks, and some are weekly drop-in classes. Live classes allow students to interact with me their teacher, and other students their age.
Nature Artists Classroom
For Ages 4-8
(Weekly LIVE Class)
Nature Artists Classroom is a LIVE drop-in weekly class (pay by the class) 35 min. each class. We explore the wonders of nature through reading a picture book, learning some science about the topic, and do some creative writing, drawing and painting. Each month we'll explore a different theme in nature. This is an ESL-friendly class!

2D ART & DESIGN
For Ages 12-17
(10 Week LIVE Class)
In 2D Art & Design students learn and apply the Elements of Design in this LIVE online 10 week course, with one 50 min. lesson person week on the Outschool platform. We'll make and discuss art from all over the world in a fun interactive way. Students will create their own artwork each week and I'll teach them how to build a digital portfolio and get a head start on their Art & Design careers!

Let's Talk About Art!
For Ages 12-17
(10 Week LIVE Class)
Let's Talk About of Art is designed for English language learners to help them practice their speaking skills by analyzing fascinating of art! The course is 10 weeks long and meets for 50 min. once per week. Students will be able to preview the lessons before hand so they can write and use translation tools for a comfortable transition to speaking English during class. Students will also have the opportunity to create their own art!

Let's Write About Art!
For Ages 12-17
(10 Week LIVE Class)
In Let's Write About Art LIVE class students will learn how to write critical analysis essays by analyzing fascinating works of art. Each course is 10 weeks with one 50 min. class per week. In class I guide students through the process of critical analysis and at the end of the course I guide them to write their own critical analysis essay. Students will also have the opportunity to create their own art!

SELF-PACED COURSES
Below are my SELF-PACED asynchronous courses where students can watch interactive videos each week and can access assignments and resources. They turn their work in to me for feedback for the up to 12 weeks from the start of the 10 week course and they'll have access to the course for up to one year. Self-Paced courses can begin at any time and allow students to work at a schedule and pace that works best for them.
2D ART & DESIGN
For Ages 12-17 (Self-Paced)
In 2D Art & Design students learn and apply the Elements of Design in this SELF-PACED, asynchronous online course containing 10, 50 min. lessons on the Outschool platform. We'll discuss art from all over the world in a fun interactive way. 7 Days of Taking Awesome Nature Photos
For Ages 12-18 (Self-Paced)
In 7 Days of Taking Awesome Nature Photos students connect with nature and their creativity in this SELF-PACED, ASYNCHRONOUS course by learning 7 ways to take interesting reference photos of nature (and people) and then use them to draw and paint in their art journals. A fun activity to do with family & friends!

Vision Board Self-Portrait
For Ages 12-18 (Self-Paced)
In Vision Board Self-Portrait SELF-PACED, ASYNCHRONOUS class we'll create a mixed media collage with drawing, painting, writing, and gluing words and images.
The purpose of a Vision Board is to plan out and visualize very specifically what we want to happen in the coming year or months.
In this Vision Board there’s a twist! We’ll be including a simple self-portrait to really personalize our vision for the new year.
