On February 28, 2026 the first day of the US-Israeli military operation against Iran a missile strike destroyed a girls' primary school in southern Iran.
120-150 school children were killed.
As a mom, teacher, and artist these numbers weigh heavy on my heart as I know they do for so many of you.
I needed to do something so I started painting 1 flower every day for 120 days to honor the lives of children. I chose the many beautiful flowers of Iran to represent the children.
120 is a number. Children should not be numbers.
I could give you a long list of numbers.
But I know you know them, and feel them already.

When children become numbers something is seriously wrong.
When children cannot be safe in schools…something is seriously wrong.
I'm trying to start an art movement, Flowers for Children, where artists paint, sculpt, print, and create flowers to honor the lives of children.
In a time when every day demonstrations of cruelty are portrayed as strength, artists can remind the world that our humanity is our most vital strength. Our humanity is shown when we protect children and put children's safety first.
