ROSE Stationary
ROSE is the seventh painting in the Mother Earth series about our relationship with the Earth. She speaks through the symbolism of the natural world. The red rose is a symbol of the passion and desire in nature to thrive and renew itself, and the Earth speaks to us with this same depth of passion. Her eyes are covered with the spirals of sea snails which symbolize the bridging of two worlds, land and sea, as well as the bridging of knowledge and ignorance. In her headdress are two white anemone flowers which symbolize the protection against evil, and they also appear as awakened protective eyes. Bats emerge from the belly of the Mother and symbolize family and connection because they are very social creatures who care for each other as the Earth cares for us.
