MARMOLADA Original Oil Painting

MARMOLADA is an oil painting from my Bella Terra series about the beauty of the Italian landscape and how it is being affected by climate change. Marmolada honors the eleven souls who lost their lives due to the Marmolada glacier collapse in July of 2022 due to unusually warm temperatures. I was visiting Italy at the time with my family, and I have never forgotten them.

Marmolada is 36x36 inches (91.44x91.44 cm) on stretched cotton canvas 1.5 inches deep (3.81 cm). I use a mixture of oil paints which include Maimeri Terre Grezze d'Italia (Raw Lands of Italy) oil paints made of Italian natural earth pigments. So my Bella Terra paintings are infused with the harmony and warmth of actual Italian earth tones and ancient pigments.
